Becoming Neighbors

Becoming Neighbors by David Fraccaro

We live at the most populated and diverse time in human history – creating tremendous challenges as well as opportunity for communities across the United States and the world. In the midst of our rapidly shifting demographics, we each have a choice to make – will we fear one another as strangers or embrace one another as neighbors? How we answer this urgent question today will have a significant impact on our economic, social, and cultural future for generations to come.

For the past 20 years, David’s work has focused on how to build greater understanding, trust, and cooperation between people of different cultures, faiths, and nationalities. He has helped build unlikely and impactful partnerships between immigrants and law enforcement, theologically and culturally diverse faith communities, and political rivals. His innovative work and ideas have been featured in numerous news articles and research reports.

More recently, David has developed an initiative through Lumunos, the nonprofit he is currently leading, to help diverse communities Become Neighbors through in-person gatherings and year long partnerships. At a time of significant division and isolation, Becoming Neighbors provides as space and process for people of difference to build understanding, trust, and cooperation through four interdependent steps – meaningful conversation, fun exchange, community service, and telling the story – helping strangers become neighbors, while creating more inclusive and united communities for all.

Becoming Neighbors is especially well suited for faith communities, nonprofits, and schools looking to build bridges and create community solutions. Contact David through Lumunos to learn more!
